Balsam pull on the Lymington River

Help stop the spread of Himalayan balsam, a non-native plant which is invading riverbanks in the New Forest. Himalayan balsam has short roots and is easy to pull up so balsam-pulling is very satisfying. Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Wear long trousers and wellingtons. It is advisable to wear a long-sleeved shirt. If sunny, bring sun hat and sun protection cream. If wet, bring waterproof coat and waterproof trousers. Booking is essential and under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. To book your place please email Joanne Gore joanne.gore@hiwwt.org.uk. Jo will then send you details about where to meet.
