About the reserve

Water rail, reed warbler, sedge warbler, cetti’s warbler, grasshopper warbler, reed bunting and whitethroat all nest. Marsh harrier and hobby occur regularly in the summer and short-eared owls can be present in winter. Bearded tit is a regular visitor in the winter. Starling murmurations can sometimes be present in the winter months.

There are small pools and grassy areas with sea club-rush and sea couch. Small stands of sea-buckthorn occur here. The car park verge alongside the reserve is being managed as a wildflower meadow.
