Listen out for the drumming of woodpeckers, the singing trills of the nightingale and warblers and even the sounds of wood ant colonies scuttling along.

About the reserve

A beautiful woodland rife with singing birds and spring flowers. In autumn it's a fantastic place to enjoy the autumn colours.

Coppicing has been reintroduced to this reserve which has seen an increase in both resident and summer migrant birds and flowers that fill the woodland floor, including st john’s wort, heath wood-rush and pale and pill sedges.

The raised bog is thought to have formed many years ago from clay-digging for brickmaking and now it is a wonderful habitat for an array of invertebrates.
