About the reserve

This reserve is part of the large Redgate Woods and Mansey Common SSSI and supports species rich neutral grassland and ancient hawthorn scrub. The grassland is dominated by tufted hair grass, with Yorkshire fog and red fescue present. Colourful but scarce plants found here include great burnet, dyer's greenweed and knapweed.
