Complimentary water vole project - the National Water Vole Monitoring Scheme

In April 2015, People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) launched the National Water Vole Monitoring Scheme, which aims to annually re-survey nearly 900 pre-selected sites across England, Scotland and Wales.  This will identify any changes since the sites were last surveyed for water voles in the 1990s and detect any emerging trends.  You can find out more about the survey, as well as register to take part, at www.ptes.org/watervoles.

The PTES Monitoring Scheme is complementary to the National Water Vole Database and Mapping Project and all data generated will be submitted to us for incorporation in the next round of Alert Maps.
