This is an exciting opportunity to play a major role in the restoration and management of Northamptonshire’s newest nature reserve, Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows.
Location: Lings House, Billing Lings, Northampton NN3 8BE. Considerable time will be spent on site at Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows.
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week. This is a full-time, fixed-term post until April 2015.
Salary: £17,500 - £18,850 per annum, depending on experience (plus contributory pension after six months).
This is an exciting opportunity to play a major role in the restoration and management of Northamptonshire’s newest nature reserve. The Reserves Officer will be part of the Northamptonshire Reserves Team, and part of a small team supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund that is dedicated to the future of Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows. You will develop and restore valuable floodplain habitats for a range of species on an 115ha restored gravel extraction site at the heart of the Nene Valley. The Nene Valley is the Wildlife Trust’s priority Living Landscape in Northamptonshire and is one of 12 Nature Improvement Areas across England. The Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits is designated as a Special Protection Area, Ramsar Site and Site of Special Scientific Interest.
You will have experience of practical management of nature reserves or similar green spaces and a sound understanding of the principles of ecology. Due to the size and public nature of the site you will need to be a good communicator with both contractors and the general public.
