Avon Wildlife Trust Chief Executive Bristol Full-time Avon Wildlife Trust is a charity that was founded in 1980 and is one of 47 Wildlife Trusts in the UK. Dedicated to working with local people for local wildlife, the Trust is supported by more than 15,000 members, manages 35 nature reserves two environmental centres and runs a series of major conservation and education initiatives in the region formerly known as Avon. Due to retirement, we have an exciting opportunity for a new Chief Executive to lead our Bristol-based team. This is a pivotal role, providing strategic vision and leadership to the operation and development of the Avon Wildlife Trust Group, which includes the award-winning Folly Farm Centre and a new consultancy. You need to be an inspiring and motivating team leader and a partnership builder, with first-rate interpersonal skills, a broad knowledge of ecological and environmental issues and the ability and passion to develop the vision for the Trust. You will also need excellent communication, management and financial skills to ensure that the Trust can both influence at the highest level and deliver its objectives within a challenging financial environment. You will be responsible for all staff, volunteers and placements and will be the external representative of the trust. Working with the chair of trustees, you will provide the board with advice, recommendations and information to enable it to fulfil its governance responsibilities. You need to be educated to degree level or equivalent, with knowledge of the conservation movement and relevant current economic, social and environment polices. Self-motivated, with an ability to enthuse and develop staff and volunteers, you will ideally have a track record of leadership in the charity sector. You will also have proven networking skills and the capability to build relationships, leading to successful project development and delivery. Interview date: Monday 10 September
