Give Your Mum A Special Mother's Day Gift
and help the Country's Wildlife
26th February, 2007
Adopt A Species with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is inviting you to adopt one of the county’s native species most in need of our help. You really can make a difference to the wildlife and wild places of Warwickshire.
The vulnerable species available for adoption are great crested newt, dormouse, water vole, snipe, otter and barn owl, all of these are under great threat in the county, for example if no action is taken the water vole will be extinct in the area by 2008, today water voles are as rare in Warwickshire as the black rhino is in Africa…..
These very special species have been identified as priorities in the Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull. Warwickshire Wildlife Trust works to protect and enhance the habitats required for these species to survive. This is done through conservation work on its nature reserves and by educating and advising landowners and the public. The money raised by the adoption scheme will go towards the costs of carrying out this work, directly contributing to the survival of these species so that populations can continue to grow.
Adopters who have already supported the scheme A current member of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust say’s “I have been with the trust for a very long time and I always try to support where I can. I adopted a dormouse for my daughters birthday, she’s also very animal orientated and loved the idea of adopting a dormouse and at the same time helping the trust”.
Stuck for a special present Idea? This Mother’s Day (Sunday 18th March), rather than settling for same old box of chocolates or yet another bottle of bubble bath why not Adopt a Species for your Mum and give a gift to Warwickshire’s wildlife at the same time? Or why not adopt a species for yourself to help Warwickshire’s wildlife?
For further Species Adoption information, please contact Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s Membership Department – 024 7630 2912, membership@wkwt.org.uk or visit www.warwickshire-wildlife-trust.org.uk for a downloadable form to fill out.
