Cider gum

Eucalyptus gunnii

Height 20-30m; bole up to 1m diameter. Evergreen with domed crown in mature trees. Bark peels in big flakes showing paler patches, which change to grey. Leaves come in two shapes - young are rounded or oval, green or blue-green, opposite; adult leaves are alternate, long and green 6-10 x 3-4cm

What habitats does it normally live in?

Southern Australia and Tasmania. Mountainous forest. Grown as an ornamental tree and for forestry.

What are its young like?

Flowers in groups of three. Fruit is egg-shaped, ripens in summer with new flowers.
