Small, low, prostrate shrub, branches 2-3 cm. Leaves shiny green, 6-10 mm long.

What habitats does it normally live in?

Arctic and sub-Arctic Europe, through to Pyrenees, central Apennines and Bulgaria. Rocky moorland over 600 m.

How does it reproduce or breed?

Produces green and yellow catkins
