Great grey slug

Limax maximus

Up to 200 mm long. Pale grey, heavily marked with dark spots, appearing striped at the end of the body. Short keel on rear end of the body.

What habitats does it normally live in?

Woods, hedges and gardens.

What does it feed upon?

Eats fungi and rotting plant material. Mating involves two individuals climbing a fence, tree-trunk or wall, and then lowering themselves on a string of mucus. Each of these hermaphrodites then lays eggs.
