Join the Ely Local Group to discover which creatures make use of Roswell Pits after dark.

Although humans tend to head indoors as darkness descends, sunset is the cue for much of our wildlife to emerge.

Using bat detectors and moth traps we aim to discover what creatures can be found around Roswell Pits once night has fallen. Previous searches in the area have revealed good numbers of bats, including Daubenton's bat, a relatively large species which can be viewed skimming over the water.

Numerous species of moths have also been recorded, including the stunning elephant hawkmoth, beautiful burnished brass and wonderfully named setaceous Hebrew character.

Paths can be uneven and slippery and muddy if wet. Stout footwear is recommended.
