The Government has proposed 15 locations for developing ‘eco-towns’ across England in Eco-towns: living a greener future. We are calling on the Government to amend its criteria for eco-towns to give the natural environment higher priority as detailed in this briefing.

Plans for tidal power on the Severn Estuary
The UK Government is currently considering options for harnessing the imense tidal range of the Severn - at 14m it is the second largest in the world. The Wildlife Trusts urge the Government to further investigate the less environmentally damaging options and ensure that compliance with the Habitats Directive is paramount.
